What Easter is About

Reblog of In Defense of the Word #2

The New Testament has significance as God – breathed a handbook for our daily living. He gave us, with an ultimate sacrifice and in great detail, a path to know Him, procedures for our release of the burdens of fear, worry and guilt, means to be under His protection, a Helper to guide us and most importantly, how to acknowledge, accept and proactively allow His sanctification of our brokenness and defeat of our sin nature. Redemption is a big deal and has been since God created human kind. Our design exposes a built in desire to know that our flaws and faults will not be what defines us and the hope we will be judged fairly on earth and beyond.

God removed us from The Law and gave us a sacrificial lamb in Christ, a real life path for atonement. The Bible, as written by men and breathed by God, captures the creation of our planet, the beginnings of nations that inhabit it and the deep histories of the peoples He chose that set the stage for the One who would arrive and complete God’s plan for our redemption and His purpose. There are supposedly more than 120 Old Testament predictions or references to Jesus walk on earth and the prophecies were supposedly fulfilled. I don’t find this surprising in any way because the Spirit of God was and is central to Scripture. The Bible is called the Living Word for a reason as the newness of life, as offered us in Jesus’ sacrifice, can hardly be avoided by any that search Scripture.

Oswald Chambers wrote in his book; From Bringing Sons to Glory:
“When a man’s heart is right with God the mysterious utterances of the Bible are spirit and life to him. Spiritual truth is discernible only to a pure heart, not to a keen intellect. It is not a question of profundity of intellect, but of purity of heart.”

I don’t know how this works any more than I know how prayer or the Spirit works because these are supernatural and God gifted. It becomes our choice to receive the perfectness of His design or reject Him and get by on our intellect. Reading my words I have concerns non-Christians may think I have a secret sauce. The sauce is not a secret and has been well advertised for 2000 years. Many of the advertisements were distorted by men for different reasons and motives. To be continued…….Happy Easter. Steve
